I've to say, on FF the 43mm would be my preferred focal length, but on APSC sensor it's 31mm. The 43mm is just to narrow of a view for day to day photos for my liking.

I guess it was just my luck. Will be doing an exchange at B&H, as it seems. Please let us know the aperture you used on shot 17, in particular.
OK, finally got around to checking these. The first 18 pics were at f/2.2. 19-21 were f/1.9. 23-30 were f/2.0. 31 was f/3.2. 32-50 were f/2.8. 51 and 52 were f/2.2. 53 and 54 were f/3.5. 55 was f/2.2. 56 was f/1.9. 57 was f/2.5. 57-59 were f/2.2. 60 was f/1.9 (mistake on my part), and 61 was f/4.

BTW, I assume you've looked into your issues before shipping the lens back, but are you certain it's a lack of sharpness you're seeing, as opposed to a focus accuracy issue which might possibly be solved through fine-tuning?

I check sharpness separately from AF acrracy. I use 10x live view with manual focus and I point at a ISO test chart. The lens was returned also due to certain physical defects. I typically check the lens internal structure with a high powered flashlight. I'm ok with some dust but not ok with having anything else wrong inside.

I assumed, but thought I'd ask. Hope the replacement is good for you!

Second copy is good! Compares well with published reviews in terms of their MTF/CA graphs
