Sounds like a great lens, though, too heavy for me I suspect. I am concerned for those of you that will be 'stuck' with the slow soon-to-be moldy DA 50-200mm zooms. I am considering adding it for the right price (~100-125 if in good condition). I am here for you to help you with your LBA ! VBG

Or maybe show that price to the B&H guy that posts on here, and maybe get him to give us a nice discount I think I will definitely take the plunge on this one if that price is "real".

AFAIK, no version of the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 is/was/will be stabilized.

Did you mean HSM?

They had to be competitive with the Sigma which has OS, so it was likely it would be a few hundred bucks less.

No, I didn't mix it up with HSM. But My bad 4 sure all the same. I guess in my haste I saw the OS lens 18-200mm and read it as 80-200mm and didn't even look @ the focal range to realize it was a completely different lens...

It's kinda funny that all the Canikon folks are lamenting that the latest Sigma and Tamron 70-200mms are NOT stabilized.
Canon owner - "Oh why couldn't they add OS/VC to them?"
Me - "Should have bought a Pentax"

Dont the folks at Adorama check this forum out often? Maybe we can get a group buy in and get a discounted rate, I will make inquiries tomorrow.
Count me in if this happens.

ditto on the group buy.
I'm just happy they kept the Pentax mount pricing the same as the others ($700 list price :-)

I don't care what the Nikon folk are whinning about, i have a 70-210 VR for my Nikon, and need a 70-200 for my Pentax. One is hopefully coming soon.

Simple.

You can change your birthday? !!!

Man, this one is going to bug me until I buy it. I was going to wait until my B-Day in June, but that may have to change.
So Buddha, how does one go about changing their birthday? Can you do it more than once a year? That would be kinda cool, I could have 5 or 6 per year. Since I get a paid day off for my B day, this might prove to be a VERY GOOD THING.

For what its worth, I sent an email to Tamron about 3 weeks ago asking about the availability of this lens and was told that the lens would be out in Canon/Nikon mount first around the first quarter of the year and the Pentax version would be out sometime thereafter. It only took about a day or two for Tamron to reply. Sorry, I deleted the email or I'd post it verbatim.

Perhaps one of you guys can email Tamron and see if they bumped up their timeframe?

This does look promising ... and the price is very good for what it is ... will be interesting to see initial tests with it first to see how good it is.

But something definitely worth saving for.

It is cheap at $700. Less than the DA* 50-135 and I'm guessing, it would be less than the rumored $1200 Pentax 60-250.
THat is a good price, though the DA* 50-135 can still be had for $739 at beachcamera.com =)
