Tamron sells the F and EF mount versions of the 70-200 f/2.8 with ultrasonic motor as well.
tamron does not do HSM-like !
canon & nikon mounts have micromotor, which is far from being ultrasonic

kojou, adorama have it listed at $799 for when it is released.

I have waited so long, just a month or two for sigma or tamron or pentax for 18+ months. Get told late september so I go and buy my wife a laptop and now I dont have the money! and I have to wait a few more weeks until I have the money again!!! <Screams!!!>

Perhaps this will be the final incentive needed by Pentax to deliver the DA* 60-250mm f/4.

The time has come. I now have to do some serious thinking of whether I want to give up the extra stop for the weather sealing and slightly wider focal range... (no, I don't want to / won't buy both)) I should just not buy the 60-250 out of spite and get this like I 1st intended.
Buy the Sigma with a 1.4x TC. So you get a 70-200/2.8 and a 100-280/4 instead of just a 60-250/4. So a stop better from 70-200, and those stops can come in awful handy.

And I have the Sigma 1.4x (&2x) You have a point; tho I really want to have the 60-100mm instead of starting @ 100mm when I have the range into the 200's... I didn't get the Sigma 100-300/4 with that thought. (yes, can take the TC off; tho I don't like to in the field)

I'm reluctant to use a zoom with a TC tho too. I don't like the idea of how that works with SR. Sure, it's a problem with primes too. Dunno, maybe my concern w/a zoom doesn't make sense if I'm willing to do it w/a prime.

Oh man... that Tamron is cut from the sam ecloth as the 28-75mm... Great performance across the frame; better than the Sigma in many combinations of f-stop & focal length.

dpreview.com - Lens Review - Fullscreen -- Tammie to Siggie Comparison
(but the Tammie does not like 135mm wide open! :ugh

Hope it's got the color vibrancy too. The one place I think my Tammy is a a tiny bit lacking.

So you can have a 140-400/5.6 as well!

The biggie for me for the Sigma over the Tamron is HSM IF it's faster than the current screw drive Sigma, which I have.

If the Pentax was f2.8, and even a bit shorter in zoom I'd be all over it. I would really love a weather sealed zoom like that.

All:

B & H has Tamron 70 - 200 /f2.8 in stock.

I am eager to hear any feedback on this lens. And, possibly a Tele converter that works with Tamron 70-200/f2.8 and Pentax K10D.

Thanks

For us Pentaxians the dilemma is : superior IQ OR HSM, not both ..

I was very disappointed to hear -- from DPreview's 70-200mm f/2.8 lens shoot-out review -- that the former [superior IQ] also comes @ the expense of focus accuracy, w/a pretty low hit-rate. :ugh:

Folks that are early adopters of the this Tamron, please let us know how you finds its focus accuracy to be.

That's what worries me. Initial reviews indicate a lot of BF/FF issues which the Tamron 28-75 also has...

For pentax users, AF accuracy depends on the dslr body since it is the body's motor that is used for AF operations.

Therefore AF reviews on other mounts should not be taken into consideration, imho.

Anyway, I should receive it tomorrow or (in the worse case scenario) the day after tomorrow.
I will keep you posted
