Are all * lenses weather sealed?

Even the older ones such as the F* 300/4.5?

Hi selar

To the best of my knowledge, 'weather-proofing' is only available on Pentax lenses sporting the 'DA' moniker.

Best regards
Richard

Definitely not.

What use would weather-resistant lenses be without weather-resistant cameras?

Hi Tom

I suppose it all depends whether weatherproofing means your K10D can weather a storm or whether it can't.......lol.

As FastPhotography said in another post:

If any of the lenses have a * by them, that means that they are outstanding performers.

No, only the DA* lenses are weather sealed. The older FA*, F*,A*,and M* are not sealed

Does this mean then that people will be offloading A, F, FA*s when the DA* equivalents become available?

Doubtful - you'd probably have to pry my FA* lenses out of my cold, dead hands, unless some serious glass is on the horizon. Now NDA starts...

Only DA* lenses are sealed. But consider the slip in QC in recent years (not just Pentax), existing F/FA* owners might be reluctant to offload their * lenses for the equivalent DA*. The last thing I enjoy is the ongoing exchange when buying new lenses.

Did you take that line " ... cold dead hands" from Stan's Pentax photography?
