300/4 Takumar or K-mount?

Hello! I am looking for a good deal on a 300/4 lens. I have weighed the results of both the Takumar 300/4 and the K-mount 300/4. I have found the following:

Takumar Pro's:
Tripod mount, bokeh
Takumar Con's:
Shows CA more often than average, needs K mount adapter

K-mount Pro's:
Sharp, bokeh, no K-mount adapter
K-mount Con's:
NO TRIPOD MOUNT! Slightly pricier than Takumar, right?

So I'm stuck between the two.
Do any of you have those lenses? Know anything about them? Any way efficiently overcome the lack of tripod mount on k-mount lens? Do you know of any cheap 300/4's around?!
I would LOVE to know, thanks!

My Super Takumar doesn't have the tripod mount, and I don't think that the original owner Gordon ever had one for it.
However the later versions aren't very heavy, so if you have a decent quality tripod you shouldn't need one.

I've gotten several good pictures with this lens, and wouldn't consider trading it for anything.

Awesome, that's good to hear. So you own the Takumar 300/4? Could you give me a link to some pictures taken with it?

I took these pictures about a week ago

and this one on Boxing day.

click here to see the full sized image.

Every picture was taken at f 4.5. The second spot on the lens.

They were all shot in JPG, with very little processing.

edit, I should have said these shots are all hand held as well.

All shot around f8, the rest of the exif should be in tact. This is the Super-Multi-Coated takumar, and I do have a tripod mount fwiw....these shots are hand-held.

I wouldn't consider lack of tripod mount as a show stopper.

I built my own, and there are sseveral different commercial options.

I would go for the K mount

Would you guys please stop posting photos like those while the very same lens is up for auction over here? My wife says "Thanks."

Sorry Mike, I never look to see what's at auction.

I'd just loan you mine from time to time if you lived in BC, but you'd have to wait until my Sigma 135-400 gets calibrated

Wait...you're selling a Takumar 300/4? Or am I not understanding you right?

Mike would love to have us post pictures like these if he's selling one at the time, but I gather that he's looking at buying one.

And it appears that we just drove the prices up by posting the pictures

This wouldn't be the first time that someones done that on here either.

I feel bad about Mike, it was bad timing with this thread.
I'm sure that you wouldn't want us to be dishonest.
