One website (and I cannot find it yet) even stated that the FA77mm was THE best lens.
I have the FA31mm Ltd and, yes, it s a a special lens. For me, I regard the FA31mm as special/unique because it give me the best percentage of 'keepers'. If I need to shoot something unique and want the best IQ with the least chance of stuff up, the FA31mm Ltd is my best choice.
Here you go.... here is the site, and it a quality website with a wonderful following to boot!
Originally posted by rparmar IMO, nothing beats the feeling of a Takumar, Zeiss, or Leica lens. Though certainly other third-party brands of manual focus lenses can equal them on occasion (Vivitar for example).
The FA Limiteds are "good enough" in my books, being compromised for auto-focus. How I wish they were manual with a slightly more damped motion. The DA lenses lag behind on this score, but really weren't made for manual focus.
I have been fortunate enough to acquire (over a several year period) a FA 31 Ltd, Contax Carl Zeiss 28/f2.8 Distagon, 85/f2.8 Sonnar, Auto Takumar 85/f1.8 and just recently a Zeiss 25/f2.8 Distagon. In terms of build quality nothing really beats these (well I have to think that a Leica would be an equal). The Zeiss and Auto Tak are both a 10, with the Limited being a 9.999999 followed by the Contax at a 9.9888888.
The optics are tremendous, the builds are wonderful, and the handling is excellent. Really difficult to go beyond these.
