FA 50/1.4 - price of used?

I am in the process of buying an used FA 50/1.4 for use with my K5. The seller is local and this will be an in person deal. The seller claims to have bought it new and used only once for a potrait session. He claims it is in excellent condition. Can anyone give me some ideas on what would be a good price to pay for this? And what other things to look out for? I ask because I have never bought an used lens before.

It goes in average $250. So anything below that price is a good price.

Just make sure you try it first on a DSLR. See if there any scratches on the elements. Look for fungus. See if the aperture blades are snappy.

See here for prices that people paid.

Thanks for the advice. Will do. He was asking for $225 and has finally offered for $200.

Yes, US$200 is a killer price for a good clean copy. That's what I paid new four years ago.

I was about to post the same thing. I paid $200 new a few years back and have seen several used ones sell for $250 or more in the Marketplace.

I paid mine $180 6 months ago but then the seller told me he bought it new for $200 back then...so it was a good deal for both of us.

Okay, I bought the lens. So far it looks good. The glass is clean and I did not notice any dust/fungus on the glass elements.
Thanks to all you guys for the price tips. I guess I got a good deal.

160USD is a stunning deal!

That's only 98 in the Queens money! I paid just less than 300 for mine!
