DA* 16-50, Help me out please. Testing.

Her are four photographs I took of some Christmas wrapping paper which should be a good test to see if my lens is focusing correctly across the lens. (FF and RF are a different issue)

Thanks again for your help.

Ed

Looks great -- mind sharing where/when you bought yours and maybe the first few numbers of the serial number?
Thanks

Bought it from Calumet Photo in Chicago. Around October 25 of last year.

Please take a look at them and tell me what you think.

They appear to me to look OK across the lens. But then, my old eyes aren't as good as they once were.

Your help will be most appreciated.

All at f/4 and approx 1/10 - 1/20 sec. ISO 400

Thanks again for your help.

Ed,

I hate to be the naysayer, but I call it like I see it. Look at your last photo which is in vertical format. Look at the sharpness of the letters on the bottom.
Now look at the sharpness of the letters on the top (particularly the phrase "jingle bells"). Do you see a difference?
(to me the top looks significantly less sharp than the bottom)

Thanks, I'm going to do the test over using newsprint, change the jpg setting to bright with +1 on the sharpness, +1 on the contrast and do a comparison with the DA 16-45 at the same f/l, shutter speed and ISO.

That sould give me the answer for which I am looking.

More to follow.

Curious also with the result. If this would be another unsatisified DA16-50 user, i'll wait the Tamron version. I've read somewhere either late March or beginning April.
