hi guys

im thinking of getting zoom and it has come down to the two choices of DA* 50-135 and Sigma 50-150. so if you had the chance get one of these lenses which one would you choose and why. and also which one is better in IQ sharpness and bokeh

My understanding is that the Sigma is as sharp as the DA* and has that extra reach, but lacks the weather resistance.

Dunno bout bokeh though - the DA* has shown some very lovely photos on this forum, but I haven't seen as many pictures from the Sigma.

if you can still get sigma 50-150 brand new now, it should be much less expensive than brand new pentax 50-135 right now. so if I would buy one brand new, I would buy sigma 50-150 now.

well sigma not brand new 2nd hand but its half the price of the DA

If AF speed is important go for the Sigma.
If weather sealing is important go for the DA*.

I have and love the 50-150. Tack sharp and faster AF than the 50-135. Both have silent AF. HSM is better than SDM. My workhorse lens and wouldn't change it. WR is irrelevant for 99.9% of my work.

Problem is finding a 50-150, unless you have patience, they do come up on here about once every month or two.
