Need help finding a TC for my DA*300

Hey guys frm what I understand the best TC is a Kenko PZ-AF 1.5as it will still have auto focus. Is this the best option.

TC

I use the Pentax 1.7x and it seems to work fine, but that one is not available new.

The Tamron is fine but the AF is still iffy - the gain seems to be set wrong with the TC and the camera overshoots the AF several times.

I would - and am - waiting for the Pentax TC myself.

Check to see if the Sigma 1.4 is compatible. It intrudes backwards and will damage some lenses when focusing. Sigma only says which of its own lenses it si compatable with. I have never dared to fit it onto my pentax lenses.

It works fine. You do have the requirement for pre-focusing but after that it seems to focus quickly.

It is if you order it through an Amazon trans-shipper in Japan (Google them - some have websites in English). And it's an excellent TC that will add semi-AF capability to MF lenses too.

In addition to the above AFA x1.7 I also have the Tamron x1.4 Pz-AF MC4 which is also excellent and fully AF compatible. You may find though that for 90% of your work (if for birding or wildlife) the DA*300 is so sharp that just cropping is almost as good as a TC (certainly a x1.4 or x1.5, the AFA x1.7 certainly edges cropping at 510mm though).

Excellent. But if birding then MF is often (usually) better than AF anyway in which case no TC at all is best.
