Tamron 70-300, which lens case ?

Just bought a Tamron 70-300 & want a lens case for when its not in my backpack - can anyone recommend which one fits nicely (including lens shade), I was mainly thinking of the LOWEPRO series ?

Just stick it on a bookshelf. Why would you bother getting a special case for just the lens? Or just keep it in your backpack. I could see buying a case for a 500mm f/4.0, but a consumer 70-300mm f/4-5.6, I don't get it? Lens cost ~$150, why bother with a $20 lens pouch?

As for Lowepro, I like their stuff (have a Nova 4AW and the Mini Trekker AW), so if one of their pouches fits your lens/hood, I'm sure it would be fine.

I do mountain hiking where I carry lots of gear so can't use my normal photography backpack - I use a hiking backpack instead. I use a standard camera case inside the backpack & want a lens pouch to protect the 70-300 in the backpack too, don't want to risk damaging the lens when scrambling down a mountainside !!

I currently have the Lowepr 1S for my previous 50-200 but its too small for the Tamron - would appreciate knowing which one suits better

After a little more investigation I've discovered the Lowepro 2S will be ideal
