Certainly is a dilemma.
One that I'm considering somewhere down the line.

I've been using my sigma 17-70 a lot at the wide end more and more.
It's a heavy lens and right now the DA15 makes a lot of sense to save up for.

I have used both lenses. I kept the DA 15. The size was just too convenient.

It comes down to how often you use wide angle. I don't use it as often. If I were someone who shot a lot of wide angle photos, I would have gone for the 12-24.

So for me, my travel kit always has 2 cameras. I take the small K2000 with the DA 15 as my wide angle kit and usually the tamron 28-75 or Pentax 50-135 on the K5 depending on what I expect to be shooting.

sums me up too

I really wanted the DA15 after reading all the reviews, however I discovered that I can't use any of my Lee filters on it due to the hood. Just keep it in mind ;-)
I have since bought the DA40 limited which I cannot fault and my next investment will be the DA 12-24

I have the DA15 as well, and got around this issue by buying a cheap hoya 49mm filter and taking the glass out. Place the 49mm filter ring on the DA15 and it will give you a flush surface to hand hold your Lee filters onto or allows you to mount them with a Cokin/Lee filter holder as well. Enjoy your new lenses!
