Is there a comparison between the DA 40mm LTD and the 40mm XS out there anywhere?

Even better if the comparison tosses in the 35mm f2.4 :P

I'm going to buy either the 35mm f2.4 or the 40mm XS for my K-x... but I'd like to know how the XS stacks up against the 40mm LTD

Charles.

The optics are the same. The XS is smaller but doesn't have quick-shift.

Doesn't XS also have curved aperture blades, while the other one doesn't? How about the numbers on the focus ring (DoF scales)?

Only the DA 40 has numbers on the focus ring but no DOF scale.

So if it's the same optically... why would anyone spend the extra dime on the LTD then?

The limited was released way long ago, the XS is new and its design fits the K-01. So yes, the XS made things a little awkward for the LTD. The only relevant reason to choose one over the other is design/appearance, it seems.

Quick-shift is what gives the limited an edge. Also, its AF isn't quite as noisy- but personally I wouldn't spend the extra cash now that the XS is out

The key is to buy a used DA 40 so the difference in price will be minimized. The 40XS feels cheaper and doesn't include a hood.

the limited is build from aluminium and not plastic like the XS, beside that it has quickshift and a lens hood.
I would spend the extra for that and have actually.

You can't go wrong with the 35mm f2.4. It's a very good lens.
