The *55? How do you like it so far?
No, thanks, I ended up with a DA70 and its very nice. Also, folks should look at the "Your Latest Acquisition" thread that's been going strong for over 2 years, its nearly a dead thread now.

No purchase; no intent; no matter to me. If I *needed* to, I would, despite the price. But I have no such need. Yet.

I have seen sellers jacking up their used price to match the higher retail, e.g., selling used at the previous new price, etc.
To my dismay, I've seen this happen on the marketplace on more than one occasion already...

The uncertaintity around FF has put a halt to any further lens purchases, more so than the recent price increases. I'm in a holding pattern now until Photokina.

You left out used. I bought used Pentax as well as new and used 3 rd party.

I'm done with new Pentax unless they revert back to pre 'screw you Pentaxians' levels.

The only lens I am getting ready to buy is the Bigma. I'm covered for everything else.

@Docrwm - I was actively participating in that thread at one time (the latest aq one) but unsubscribed when I felt it was pushing [me] into LBA mode

The *55 is one that I am interested in for nighttime portrait work of groups (mainly grunge/rock band album cover and promo work), my Viv'ee 85 1.4 works but the 55 gives me a few more framing options being that it is wider. I could really use one this upcoming Saturday as I have one of these late night shoots scheduled. I am buying another pentax lens in a couple weeks but it will be used - the only other new lens I will probably be buying for pentax bodies this year will be the Sigma 8~16...

I wouldn't say "lost a customer". I was just going to get the 40 to complete my collection of Limited lenses. I am getting the E-M5 to replace my small sensor p&s camera (Leica a Du-Lux 4). I have never been happy with small sensor cameras. Which is the reason the Pentax Q never interest me. I plan on continuing with my two K-5 cameras as my primary camera system. Maybe with luck I will replace my K-5 cameras with FF Pentax cameras.

The E-M5 will be my caving camera were camera size is very important. Size, viewfinder and weather sealing was reasons the K-01 never interest me.

I'm waiting to see what next wide-normal zoom comes out with two of interest on the road map.
The DA* 16-50 isn't what I want, mainly due to size and weight, not so much cost. In the meantime, I'm happy with the 18-55 / 35 macro combination instead.
We're in a transitional phase after Ricoh buyout, so Pentax fans are a bit glum, but I'm confident that by this time next year things will be better.

Great minds...I've got an E-M5 on order as well - Silver, with the 12-50 kit lens - and the extra $$ that I'd planned on putting toward the 50-135 will be going toward additional 4/3's glass.

I'm considering the 40 ltd, while the $499 price tag doesn't sound that bad for a new limited lens, I think I'm still going to search for a used one... but that's just me- I'm a cheap-o who only buys used.

While I love the DA* 55 and 50-135, I would not have purchased them at the current prices.

Just a few days ago in the morning I had a new 40 ltd in my Ebay cart for $379, the store had a few left. I leave and come back later in the afternoon to purchase it, but guess what? I got a message that this item is unavailable- darn it. I go back the next day and search up 40 ltd and find the same place raised it to $499.

I was also toying with the idea of a DA40. Now it will have to wait unless I can find a bargain in Tokyo later this month.

I was going to try for the 16-50 by saving for a few months, and was definitely going to get a 18-135, but with the new prices, and with the used copies of these shooting up so much I'll wait for someone to sell the 18-135 used and at the lowest price I can, hopefully around the 300 range I saw some before the "screw you pentaxians" pricing strategy, and I got a Tamron 17-50 instead of the DA 16-50. If not I'll pick up the kit wr lenses used somewhere down the line. I had found the 18-135 at 350 or so new at some places, and the 16-50 down to 700 new at some places, but it's not even close to those prices now. Thanks Pentax.
