There is air blow out when I zoom my 16-50, is this normal?

ok, I just got my 16-50 repaired for SDM issue.
but one issue I had before was that when I zoom in and out, there is air blowing out.
I do not experience this kind issue with my other lens (for example 50-135 and kit lens)
but after it got repaired, I find this issue still exist.
so..........

To illustrate the issue clearly. see this

No issues with air blowing in and out with mine. Doesn't sound normal really.

Does it come out your viewfinder? Mine blows air out when it's not mounted but I can't feel it when it's on the camera.

it blow out from the lining on lens body when I mount it on camera.
but if I open any slot on camera, the air will blow out from that slot. let's say if I open SD card slot, then the air will blow out from that. if I open battery slot, then the air will come out from that slot...
I mean if it does not cause any potenial lens problem...I am ok with that. I paid 300 for repair the SDM. I do not want to send it back again for another 6 weeks.....

All zooms will blow air in and out. It is just physics, the tube when extended holds x cc's of air when it retracts it holds less, that has to go somewhere. So, air in and back out each time you zoom. I think it is more noticeable on the better sealed lenses like the DA*16-50 because the seals restrict the air flow. On cheaper lenses it still happens but the air has more space to escape through so you do not notice.

What camera are you using? Where exactly does the air come out? Just everywhere?

Sounds like an enhancement to the original design to clean your sensor in a manner similar to a rocket blower.

Did you have to be in a really quiet environment to hear the sound?
I mean.... if you open the SD card door and you hear the sound.... that must be loud.

$300 to fix SDM? Ouch....

yes, you can hear sound

this is the service they did
clean and repair sand/grit type substance
replace SDM auto focus motor
replace main circuit
repair and adjust electrical circuit
replace misc. electrical parts
general cleaning and lubrication
check and adjust all function to specifications
re-estimate: need to replace main PCB as well

I think my lens should be like new now.......

Wait, it blows air out of my SD card door too. It's not something I'd ever notice or be worried about though.

That sounds normal, I can feel air flowing from around zoom ring. With open sd card slot, it really blows hard, could use it for pumping up an air-matress.

Zooms move air and out. Even primes with long focus throws you can notice this. How do you think all that dust ends up in the inner elements of zoom lenses? It is sucking it up in there with zoom action...

My Tamron 185D 28-300 blows/sucks air thru the viewfinder. I don't worry much about it.
