LBA, why ohh why are you sucking my money away?

Well, in the past 3 weeks I've bought 3 Tamron lenses. The 10-24, 17-50, and the 28-300. The last I got today because it was payday and the price was too good to pass up. I don't think I can keep this up or else I will have to live on ramen noodles. Why ohh why does the LBA strike, and why can't I be a millionaire so I can get my lens collection to where it needs to be? Anyone know of a cure for this thing called LBA?

Just wait till you start contemplating buying lenses you already have (just earlier serial numbers) so you can compare. Then you know you have some serious trouble on your hands!

I bought the Tamron 28-300 f/3.5-6.3 so I can compare it to my Sigma 28-300 f/3.5-6.3. Am I sick or something?

I did this for a couple of years but 6 months back I hit the wall (well sort of - I've still bought a Tokina 300/2.8 and a Lens Baby set recently). But now when I go around the huge camera/lens malls here I'm not tempted to buy because I only want better lenses to those I have now. So it's a case of saving my pennies because those lenses are big figures but will be worth it ! TBH I wish I hadn't bought so many lenses / other crap (4 monopods, 5 tripods, 6 bags anyone ?) growing into my kit. My advice to everyone is save for the best you can, lenses and other gear, and ignore the rest (isn't that like telling an alcoholic to avoid alcohol) ?!

His name is Voice of Reason. But if Reason slips into a slumber (as it is to be expected), Reason will have no Voice

In the prime phase there's no reason, no light--just primal, dark obsessions, and the cold of creeping anxiety...

I think I just started on the prime phase. I got the 50 1.4 long ago, but I just got the 35 2.8 macro and the 100 2.8 macro wr at the beginning of the month. In hope of a full frame, I have decided the 35 will be my last da, but I have to get the 77... And I am thinking the 31 too. The worst part is that I know as soon as I get those two I will want more.

One can never have too many lenses, space and finances permitting. Go for it.

Don't feel bad, once I tasted the gateway drug (DA40), I acquired FA31, 43, 77, 100WR all within about 1 month period. Would have gotten the DA15, but it was OOS and then came the price increase, which at its current price, is no longer worth it to me.

OK, I got the lens, where is the FF?

One can never have too many primes, you mean My LBA is generally limited to cheap, 30 year old primes off eBay, and thinking about how I can justify yet another mild telephoto… I never go for zooms. More expensive, less quality, especially when you have old Pentax K primes to buy

I think I need to do a run of camera shop backrooms for a Sears 135mm macro, Kiron f2 28mm, a Vivitar 16(I think)mm Fish, and a longer telephoto. Without spending any more than £200 max… Challenge accepted!

I can recommend a very few cheap zooms, AF and MF:

AF: F35-70/3.5-4.5; FA100-300/3.7-5.8 (silver)
MF: Vivitar Series 1 70-200 (v1 & v3) and 19-35/3.5-4.5
MF: Samyang-made Sears 70-210 and 80-200 f/4 (or f/3.9 if Albinar)
MF: Tokina-made 55-135/3.5 (my favorite people-shooting lens)
MF: Schneider Betavaron 50-125/4-5.6 enlarger zoom

Haven't seen a Viv 16 fish -- try the Zenitar 16/2.8. For Vivitar 28/2, the Komine CFWA is probably better than the Kiron. And I shouldn't have sold my Sears 135 macro 'glow' lens. Duh.

I used to see Campbell's ramen, baked not fried, about zero fat. Not seen lately. I guess healthy ramen just doesn't attract buyers.

Not something I even considered.

I do follow most of these type of threads, yet haven't bought a lens for several years now, perhaps I'm cured
