Hello all

For all those that own a collection of lenses that don't often get used, do you do anything to maintain them eg take them out, move around the aperture settings, move the focus ring, etc or do you let them sit till you need them?

Just make sure they're stored in a moisture-free environment. The zoom and/or focusing rings of older lenses may get (temporarily) stiff if they're not used for several years, so I'd at least pick them up and use them once in a while.

Lenses stored in close dark damp spaces tend to grow fungus. Set them out in the sun for a few days to kill it. The lube on focusing helicoids can get stiff with disuse. I squeeze a drop or three of lighter fluid in there to loosen them up -- don't get it on the glass! But mostly, USE THEM! I have a zillion lenses, and a LOTD (lens-of-the-day) program: grab something at random and use only it for a day or ten. That way they don't feel so lonely, eh?
