Hi thanks for your replies. I should have been more specific. I am more of a landscape-street photography-prime lens-guy. I am not much of a portrait shooter.

What I meant to ask is what would be a good setup that can easily be upgraded to FF with a lens or two; and also keeping a similar setup in terms of focal length (considering the 1.5x). I really like my 15mm and I'll replace it with a 24ish lens if FF ever comes out. I won't buy a 31mm, because I don't link the focal length on a FF camera.
Since you shoot street/Landscape and assuming you want AF, i'd go this rout

FA 24* f2.0 - excellent street FL on apsc (35mm equiv) and excellent for landscape and streets on FF (stuck with the used market for now)
FA43 - Long normal on apsc but will work for landscape and casual street portrait
FA77 - a little long for apsc street but good for head shoulder street portraits and an excellent portrait lens on FF

All will be good on FF all are quite usable for your shooting style (and you still have the 15 for now on apsc)

Personally these 3 could well be all i carry on FF and add my DA14 on apsc.
you could sub a fast 50 for the 43 as well

I have a Poor Man's FA trio of FA35/2, FA50/1.4, and FA100/2.8 Macro. I acquired them all for less than what a new FA31 would cost. The lack of Limited Pixie Dust aside, they complement each other well, though 35mm is not really wide on APS-C - nothing that a cheap Tamron 17-50/2.8 can't solve however.

I use them on 35mm film as well and can imagine how well they would work on FF digital if it ever came to fruition.

FA31,FA77,DFA100mm IMO. There's no current FX ultrawide right now, so you'd have to acquire that if/when the FF comes out.

On a non-Ltd budget:

* Vivitar-Cosina 19-35
* F35-70
* FA50/1.4

But I'm a cheap bastard.

I kept my FA35/50/77 combo hoping for FF.

Yes. I'll go with that. So now I have two new lenses to acquire.

You already have the FA43, and you're saving for the FA77. You're more of a landscape shooter.
What's not to like about the FA31 (apart from cost)???

My thoughts exactly. I think DFA100 WR is optically as good as FA77 (less the pixie dust)

Good question sandy. The reason why I don't buy the FA31 is because I probably won't like it on a FF camera. I'd rather wait for something like a FA24 limited or buy a Zeiss like interested_observer suggested. Then again, a FF might not come out anytime soon, in which case the FA31 might be a good choice for me. Pentax know how to make me spend my money for a product that doesn't exist yet and might never exist...

Although my ZK 25/2.8 is a superlative lens on APS-C,
I wouldn't think that either it or the FA*24 would have adequate performance
for the edges of a potential 30MP full-frame digital sensor.
The same goes for my K24/2.8 and M20/4.

If Pentax ever did a 24 x 36mm FF DSLR,
I would expect them to produce a downsized version
of the medium-format DA 645 25/4.
Probably too big for street use.

Your question has no answer :-)

Only you know what and how you like to shoot. Only you know what is important to you.
You seem to be going for primes but there are a lot of excellent zooms that provide flexibility,

You might look at the lens reviews and lens sample images. Everything else has been said and opined :-)
No answers or a million answers...

I would humbly suggest that the FA31 would *rock* on a full frame, and be perfect for landscapes, but your opinion is what matters; I have no vested interest.

If your a landscape guy AF is not critical and maybe not desireable. Just pick any 3 MF lenses you like and trynt.hem out on film first. Get a good film camera like a PZ1 and go out and have fun

I have almost the same trio, but a MF 100/3.5 Macro instead of the FA 100/2.8. But I have added the Sigma 24/2.8 AF version, and would recommend it highly (as long as one uses a lens hood with it). Owning the Sigma, I feel "futureproofed" in case Pentax does release FF -- all I would really be missing is a portrait-length prime, where I would probably go with a DA 70 over an FA 77 :-). Or perhaps a new 85/1.4?

Following along Riorico's line - I wish the limiteds were in reach but for now my FF trio of sigma 15fish, rikenon 28 mf and sigma 50 macro will serve quite nicely. When life allows, a da21 will be the next choice, but that means no ff.
