the m39 jupiter is likely LTM so for an RF be careful on that one (there was a version that was for slr as well but it's much rarer) the 37 2.8 is supposedly pretty decent
50mm 1.2 you will pay big bucks unless you are very lucky (I've yet to find one cheaply but still dream of stumbling over an lx with an a 50 1.2 for cheap at a shop where they don't know what it is )

every guy/gal who hunts for bargain lenses most certainly....the trick is in being the first one to come into the shop once they put it out for sale

I've got 9 lenses, and I tend to think more about slimming down the collection rather than growing it. From now on I'll try to ensure that each new lens supersedes (higher IQ and/or smaller and/or AF or other useful capabilities) and replaces an old one.

In an ideal world my perfect kit would be a camera (with a decent viewfinder) and 4-5 lenses that could do everything I need (which doesn't include sports or birding) and all fit easily in a small messenger bag. I almost have that now, thanks to some M series primes.
(Leica might well be the best solution to this, but even if I had that kind of money spare there's no way I'd spend it on a camera!)

well if I had to guess it would be Hoanpham - who has replied but not said how many he has but he shoots 7 different mounts, or digitalis who may have done the poll but not commented (I'm certain he has well beyond 151 lenses)

B@gg@r just bought another one! Annoyed because I missed out on a Sigma 24mm f2.8 AF so consoled myself with a Sigma 30mm F1.4 from a member here. My fastest lens!

Digitalis has hundreds. Of Fifties. And many more.

I certainly understand folks wanting minimal kits. That's necessary for mobility. Schlepping tons of stuff ain't fun when it happens too often. Accumulating stuff is for those with fairly permanent homes. Oh, all the media I've left behind in various moves...

I *do* have minimal travel kits. But like any, those kits tend to expand. Yes, I can get by with a few. But they aren't sufficient.

A parallel: I really don't need more than one guitar, eh? But I somehow find myself with the Ovation 12-string, Ibanez 6-string, Martin Backpacker, Dobro-type resophonic, Aria jazz electric, Tamara electric bass, other guitars (and maybe a handmade classical upcoming), the banjos and lutes and dulcimers and mandolins, etc. Of those, the Backpacker and a banjo-ukelele are the "travel kit". But they aren't sufficient.

not surprised you suffer from GAS as well Rico. the desire to collect crosses all hobbies - and musicians are notorious particularly guitarists - a few i know have 60 + guitars - whenever my Wife gripes about my photography spend i just point out it could be worse I could still be trying to play (I gave up beating my head against that wall just lack the talent sadly) an instrument and point out any number of friends who have rooms for their guitars

I have 11 lenses for my two Pentax cameras... it'll be 12 once the new DA 50 f/1.8 arrives. Honestly, I can't imagine I'll need more lenses than that. But, I can imagine exchanging one, two or three lenses depending on what becomes available over the next couple of years. As most of you know my DA* 16-50, which has not failed me yet, remains suspect because of the SDM. Ditto the 50-135. And both are really heavy. If Pentax comes out with lighter, more reliable alternatives to both, I'd consider them. Also, while I have no complaints about my DA 55-300, if a 135-400 came out to match the 18-135, I'd consider it too.

Bonjour Eddie et Rico,

I am going to show your posts to my "better half" who's starting to gripe about the "space" taken by my LBA/GAS Pentax ...

And just FYI, I have a French brother-in-law that has a small room dedicated to his "jazz/manouche" ( Django Rienhardt ) music ... Guitars, mixing board, and dedicated laptop, etc. She does not know how "easy" she's got it ... Quelle chance !!!

A+, John Frog

I thought I had too many, but at 55, I still can afford some more. I need another display case.
