FA 85/1.4...

Currently I'm enjoying the learning curve of a K85/1.8 paired to a K-5. Perhaps it will satisfy the lust for the FA 85, but as I learned from the FA 31, I would have been better off to just go for it and quit trying to make do (BTW: the K85 is no slug). With the 31, I decided it's time or money and I can always make more money.

So, my advice would be to get your dream lens today and by the end of next week, when you are off and rolling, you'll think back on the pain associated with acquisition and find it was brief.

Cheers...

Hmm... probably the 10-17 fisheye right now. I'm addicted to super wide right now. For everyone wanting the 31mm ltd, get it! It's one of my most used lenses. I usually walk around with the 15mm ltd and 31mm ltd since the 15 is small enough to fit in my pocket. The 31 is a stunning lens!

Yeah, the FA31. I will probably get the Sigma 30 f1.4 sometime this year, and see if that is enough. (HA!)

Why does everyone covet the FA 31?

Thankfully my LBA is in remission at the moment (just got the 16-50 and 50-135 couple as a secondhand bundle).
Similar situation. I'm just lying in wait now until the mythical 120-300 Sigma f/2.8 comes out... One day... Hopefully I'll be able to afford it by that time...

I'm not coveting the FA 31 limited, I'm planning on it soon. There is a difference. The FA 300mm f/2.8 w/ 1.7 tele converter (or some similar flavor) would be one to covet. Price and availability will keep it out of my reach for some time.

.......but next up might be DA21 ...... or a K-5 depending on it's replacement.......or possibly the K-5's repalcement.

My next two will be the 31 and the 77. I don't know which will ultimately be first because it depends on what I find out there for the right price first. I am also trying to decide if the made in Japan thing means a lot to me. But I am making it happen for at least one of those two before September.

For me it's the DA* 60-250 that would be the dream addition to my lineup.

Should buy:: DA 18-55 WR
Eagerly await:: DA 21 XS !!
I've got the first two, and they make a killer WR combo. I'm almost never using my FA100-300 since I got the DFA 100 WR.

The DA21 XS would be a wonderfully small lens. In the meantime, I also got the regular DA21 LTD, and with the F50 and DFA100, the trio makes a magical compact combo for high IQ and ease of carrying.

Either that one or one of the other 90/100/105mm macros that seem to be the source of many delightful images I've seen here. And I'll be greedy and add to the list a set of PKA extension tubes (not really another lens!)

Because it's a great lens. Some say (even from Nikon land) that it's the best lens ever made.

For me, Its because the FA*24/2 is just a little too wide, the Limited 43 just a little too long, I've considered the FA35/2 a few times, but The 31 would be nice addition to my lens range and suit my style of shooting. Plus, I love the images I've seen fromm others with this FL. Missed one for 830.00 the last week on thebay, but, need to save up a bit longer to get one.

DA21, FA77, DA14, DA*55
(In no particular order)

Thankfully they are above my price range right now, so it'll be a year or so before I acquire one unless trading makes things fun (Anyone want to trade for a Sigma 30? ).

My self-inflicted 'need' gets filled today, when a sigma 15 arrives. I am now a happy camper.. until the new DA hi-mag zoom is announced. That could re-start the LBA machine in a hurry, depending on its specs.

And to the OP - if you cannot find the Vivitar I really like my Rikenon xr 70-150. Too bad only 2 known copies exist
