Overpriced. The same money buys you a new Zeiss macro planar.
And photokina is on the way - what about an SL-III line of Voigtländer lenses. Perfect time for selling the Apo Lanthar though.

I hope they come out with a SLIII 125mm too. But I think we still have to wait for the fabled unicorn FF Pentax DSLR before we see antlything from cosina... In the mean time I will just overspend on a Voigtlander 180mm f4.

One a couple of months ago was sold for $800 more, this is cheap for what some are willing to pay for this lens. I am pretty sure it's sold for more even here in this marketplace. Some macro fans go crazy for this lens.

I'm crazy for it, but I'm not going to trade my entire lens collection for it.

SLIII? They didn't even make an SLII one. These probably didn't sell that well or they would have produced them again already.

The SL-II version is the 3.5/90. Probably more volume in sales, but also not canibalizing the Zeiss 100 macro. 1.5 f-stop difference, Huge price difference and actually cheaper than the Pentax 2.8/100 M. Pretty hard selling a lens that has less features than the original. Most people go for Pentax - looking for something completely "extraordinary" get a Zeiss. It is probably that simple. Nobody (not enough people) cares about making/buying a great lens at a decenet price.

The 90/3.5 appeared in both SL and SL2 versions.

KEH offers EX or better M100/2.8s for around $150.
The 90/3.5 costs around $550 on those Asian sites that still have it.

Don't surf the Cameraquest site, it's injurious to your financial health.
The only redeeming feature is that most of the items there are no longer available in a Pentax mount.
