Me too -- 55 seems like a perfect length.

Voted for the 300 4. Really want longer. Know the fast ones are expensive but how hard can it be to make a reasonable speed 400, 500, or 600? Talking even 5.6 (400) to 8 (600). It is embarassing to tell people there is no Pentax lens available over 300.
If Pentax can build a 300 2.8 and 600 f4 for you why don't they just build some and have them available. The large cost of building, designing, and manufacturing them is the same. Why not have a few in the world instantly available? Makes no sense to me. The parts are already laying around. Can you imagine building K10Ds that way? Can't be more than a day or two labor in assembling one. Not that many parts involved.
thanks

Pentax needs to stop beating around the bush.

I just want a 70-200 f/2.8 or a 80-200 f/2.8.

There's 200 f/2.8 and 60-250 f/4. But no 70-200 or 80-200 @ f/2.8. I want to enjoy the richness of f/2.8 from 70 or 80 to 200. I can't lie to myself and say I'm willing to take a $1200 compromise for f4. Just f/2.8, please. SDM, so what. Weather sealing, so what. Just give me f/2.8. Look how many 70-200 f/2.8 Canon sells. I'd buy a Canon just for that lens.

So I guess my vote can go for 55-300. If the price is under $300, then it's a good deal.

Just buy the Pentax Fa 80-200 F/2.8 , if you really need one now . If you find the cost too high , just buy the Sigma or the new Tamron .

I couldn't afford a long/2.8 just give me the DA*300/4 or preferably 400mm. Right now I need IQ over blazing speed.

There are several tempting choices on that list that look good to me, but I doubt I could afford any of them. Actually, the 21 is the next lens purchase I'm planning on making.

Hi mer.

It's not that I need one now, it's that I'd like to know if one is even going to exist from Pentax! It's not on the roadmap, at least not anything close at f/2.8.

The 60-250 f/4 would be great if it was a stop faster, because it'll probably be sweet around 200mm. But who knows. Maybe 60-250 f/4 with the new camera's iso 3200 or 6400 will shut me up.

35mm macro for me please!

And I'd like the DA*18mm f2.8 Tilt/Shift - oh wait, I just dreamed about that one...

Heh heh! That seems to be my roadmap, too, Buddha!

I can't decide between the 200, the 300 or the 60-250. Price will probably make the decision for me.

Pentax primes are more reliable than zooms. I will go for primes for the time being!
