I don't have any problem with my MIJ 77 on a *istD, K200d or MZ-3 (film) none of which have focus adjustments. What I do have to do in some situations such as street shooting is make sure if I am using AF to use spot focus. Other wise I screw up shots because I will be concentrating on a subject closer to me but the camera seems to focus on multiple people in the back.

Here is an example (although with the DA 40 ltd). I was concentrating on the barefoot young lady in yellow but the damn camera's af was on multi instead of spot and I blew it. It focused on the people in back. This was a quick opportunity.

All my photos look like this one, but my camera is always on spot focus. I use only spot focus.

Does the K-x have the red spot indicator in the view finder for for the focus point? Sometimes I also have difficulty in targeting the spot focus.

No, it doesn't, but I have no problem using catch-in-focus with the Samyang 85mm 1.4 wide open. It rarely fails, and if it fails, I know I did something wrong. I can't attribute the fault to the camera, since it has never behaved like this with any other lens.

No, it doesn't. But didn't bother me as much as I thought it would, as I always selected the AF point.

Wouldn't that be manual focus?

You shouldn't have to use catch-in-focus with a FA 77. Do you know anyone else with a Pentax body? I suggest trying it out on another body and sending it back for exchange if you can. C.R.I.S. is slow but that would be another option. The DA 70 LTD would be another option.

I'm going to return it. It's a wonderful lens, for sure, but I'm afraid AF (for streets) will be problematic with any copy of this lens. I need reliable and fast AF. I will get the DA 70 if Pentax comes up with a rebate for it...

Thanks for your help, everybody!

for street the DA 70 may well be better smaller and faster focus.
