Lens hood for f50 1.7 and f35-70

Hello,

I just got those 2 lenses.

1. do I have to use a lens hood? I read that i should. just rechecking.
2.what hood to buy? the original that cost about 35$ or some non brand? If you reccomend a non brand can you post a link to ebay or something like that?

Thank you.

Optimally that the hood matches the field of view. A 50mm on a 135 film would be the original on or for a "standard" as for 50mm, but if you are running it on a digital with the smaller APS sensor, it would be the similar one for use with 75mm. Some of those three-in-one hoods may work well. The 35mm-70mm would mean a hood matched to the 35mm end and again that the format you are using it on. Hope this helped.

I bought this lens hood recently for my 35-70; it's a rubber collapsible one, made by B+W.

For my FA 50 f/1.4, I bought this rubber collapsible one, made by Pentax.

I think both lens hoods help reduce the flare a lot.

I have the F 35-70 lens. I could not find a genuine Pentax hood for it. I opted to get this hood Amazon.com: Fotodiox 3-Section Rubber Lens Hood, Sun Shade , 49mm: Camera & Photo for the time being until I can(if I can) find a better/pentax one. It works well and allows a filter to screw onto hood if needed. I have not experienced any vignetting at 35mm.

On my FA50/1.7 I use the Pentax screw in hood intended for the DA40.

Lens Hood for Pentax 50mm

I bought two of these, one in 49mm and one in 55mm, both work great. The advantage is the the hood is a bayonet type and is reversible for storage.

For the 50, use step-down rings to create a hood in the spirit of the DA40:

For the 50mm f1.7, the hood for takumar 135mm f3.5/200mm f4 works with no vignetting. Of course, it doubles the size of the lens I had one (with my 135), so I didn't have to seek anything out.

A 49-28mm step-down ring works great for the F50 F/1.7. The one in the photo is its brother FA50 F/1.7.
