APO in this case stands for A Plastic Outside. It's a mid-late 1910's Bausch & Lomb Rapid Rectilinear lens. Possibly from a Vest Pocket Kodak #3 camera. Approximately a 180mm focal length. US stops from 4 to 128 (in f/stops: f/7.7 - 56). The Kodak Ball Bearing shutter has patents from 1910 and 1913.
This setup I just lashed together to test a theory. Unfortunately this lens is too long throw for the screw a PVC pipe into another PVC pipe to focus very close - I get to about 15-20 feet, but do focus to infinity. Maybe a shorter MF lens, a 105 or even an 85 will do the trick.
So no real bokeh shots in this setup. But the thing works.
