Normal noise for 60-250?

I'm very happy so far with my 60-250mm DA*, but one thing I'm curious about is whether it is making normal noises. It seems to be silent when moving during focusing (no whining or anything), but it makes a stuttering sound when it stops or changes direction. I've checked some videos online, and I can here similar noises with those lenses, but many reviews describe it as "completely silent", which mine is clearly not. Quiet: yes, silent: no. I tried the Sigma 150-500 with HDM today, and that really is completely silent. It was hard to believe it was working.

The only reason I'm concerned is that funny noises are usually the first sign of an immanent SDM fatality, so I'm trying to be conscientious in these halcyon early days. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Before the SDM failed on my copy, during the 'stutter' you can hear some noise.
Curiously, after it came back from repair, I thought the new SDM motor sounded louder than the old one - ie, I can hear it during focusing.

both my 16-50 and 50-135 have some sound during focusing...
