Pete - Read my post just below yours, I'm pretty sure she has f/2.0 lenses and is just being REALLY dense regarding the difference between f/2.0 and f/1.2. Again, if I'm wrong, you and I can sit down and eat our words together (over some beer or wine maybe? )

I'm sorry. I am rarely rude to someone I don't know but I don't believe you at all. Either your Pentax users club is a room full of mental patients that have $500-700 to throw away just 'cause. Or you don't own what you say you do.

This was a relatively rare lens even when new and it was expensive. It's not the usual thing to find at estate sales anywhere that often. But if I'm wrong I'll happily apologize and eat my words.

And a philly steak sandwich. I hear they are good!

I read your post and assmed the same but it has been made clear in the posts which is which and she's sticking to the story so far.... As Finn said, my brain hurts.

I tried the philly steak sandwitch in 2001 where Bill Clinton had tried in the store as well. It was really yummy!

Number one please do not attempt to twist things at your folly. I am not dense. I probably started buying Pentax lenses when you were both in your diapers. I now know the exact difference because I asked.

I stated I have 11 SMC A 1.2 lenses in my cabinet which are called F2's. I was asked if any those appeared different for the norm. I replied yes there are two or three that have slight difference's in markings but I had not handled them for quite some time.

Also how can you both be so "DENSE" that I would be confusing the SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2 with an F2 when that was the reason I originally posted because I did not recognize the lens markings?

I have in my lens cabinet around 11, "50mm A 1.2 's" some are different from the others but quite similar, most are exactly the same.

Ok a Pentax SMC A f1.2 is not an f2 lens. So as others have stated you have 11 of the f2 lens not 11 of the 1: 1.2. That's a huge difference.

PLEASE STOP GETTING 1.2 AND 1:2 CONFUSED! (ok, I'll stop yelling)....Folks who are NEW to Pentax/lenses have been confused by this, and your consistently calling your f/2.0 lenses A 1.2 only perpetuates the confusion/misunderstandings.

It may seem like a minor distinction, but like myself and others have tried explaining to you, it really is a BIG distinction. Unless you actually have f/1.2 lenses (which would totally contradict the entire point of this thread)
I am sorry, my impression is A 1:1.2 and A 1.2 I am sorry I bothered anyone in this forum.

This lens, for Gods sake,

Pentax Lens Review Database - 50mm F2

How on earth would I have 11 1:1.2's If I had never seen one before?

Well if you live in Gross Point I'm sure you have the money to buy 300 lenses, I grew up in Rochester Mi. and the highest taxes in the state are gross point, They have some fantanstic estate sales. from some awesome homes in that area, but you can have the weather,
I retired about 7 years ago at 48 and moved to a nice beach in Fl. But just started playing around with photography last March and have 6 lenses and just ordered a DA10-17. so I can see how easy it is to collect toys.
Congrats on the awesome bargin Wendy.

The variety of the weather creates the dynamics of the spice of life.

Are you missing a couple of e's somewhere?

Thank you for the sincere comment.

Most of the A 1.2's (F2) have been acquired either by really good bargains (like body and lens for under 20 dollars) or by gift from other members of my local Pentax users club.
What it all boils down to Wendy is to please don't refer to all your previously acquired "A f/2" lenses as "A 1.2", which reads as "A one dot two" ... because it's not that.
f/2 = A 1:2
f/1.2 = A 1:1.2 -or- A 1.2 (the source of all the confusion)

Those lenses you speak of previously acquired are all (but the most recent one) an "A 1:2", which reads as "A one to two".

It did after all take some people's time on a wild goose chase searching for those oddly marked " A 1 dot 2" lens you stated you had a good number of in the original post. Even I spent a couple of hours 'researching'.

I have to agree it is entertaining, as I understand what the 1:1.2 lens is, and to be honest, I never have seen one either,
