I shoot weddings on twin K10D's with my ole ist*D for some different situations...i like how it handles light.....

and when I'm roving around with two bodies, I have the new 50-135 on one and the kit 18-55 on the other.

my da* 16-50 is on layaway....

i carry a 70-300 sigma in the bag to finish off the range

and i carry a sigma 28-80(macro) for some macro stuff (cake, jewelery, details)

my advice would be
dont shoot a wedding on just one lens.
but if you do...well i dont know.....

i would like to be a cheerful fellow....but one lens to handle 10hrs of 10-20 lighting situations, distances, proportions, etc?

good luck and im sorry about the neighsay type of words in this post
How does the K10D do? I was concerned about noise in shooting above 400ISO...

K10D
does well
his noise isnt too bad. yes he does have noise. but i learned about noise on the ist*D and made a habit to shoot low iso.
i shoot at 100 as a rule, 200 in a pinch, 320 in an emergency, and anything else whenever i feel like it. 8)

haha
to be honest, i try as a rule to max out at 320 but i find myself at 1000 and not worrying about it.
i'll be glad for the high iso performance of the k20d because, speculatively, that could amount to better global iso performance i.e. better at 100, 200, etc.

you know, at the same settings but with different light you will get different noise.
i have NAILED some shots at 1600 with so little noise you can hear a pixel drop
....and I have had noise at 100 (oops)

try this:
its my favorite way to shoot.
go to your max iso, minimum resolution, and smallest size/fineness

for the k10d that is 1600/2mp/* (one star fine)....that is where you get to explore your noise

good luck

p.s. here is a link to my flickr weddings: MJB DIGITAL. Specializing in Weddings. - a photoset on Flickr

ist*D: 3200/small/low res (onestar) um...disclaimer: its my brother 8D

k10d: 1600/2mp/onestar

so there it is.
both cameras at the absolute max iso, lowest res, smallest size.....
both are shot in the dark, lit by a flash
