b&h new lens prices!

Unless it is some glitch, I just noticed that B&H is offering DA lenses for close to their pre-price hike prices, with free shipping! Is this some limited time sale? How can they do this with the new price policy in place?

Example: d FA 100 for $650, Da 15 for $550, da 70 for $570... even da 16-50 and da 50-135 are much lower than MSRP. Of course the one lens I need/want, DA 21, has been dropped the least, only $50 off, to $600 instead of $650. Weird how DA 21 is now the most expensive da limited lens...

Am I dreaming? Or is b&h realizing that nobody was buying new lenses at the higher prices and had to drop them?

Huh, that is strange. Good news for Pentax lovers. Too bad I don't need anything.

Maybe a response to canon pancake lens price?? Da 40 lim is now back down to $370. Adorama still shows the higher price for all of these lenses, like $500 for da 40.

I don't think Pentax has sold any DA lenses since the price hike.

After a few months the MBAs at the head office made the slideshows with the latest data, and then it only took a few more weeks before a bright summer intern discovered that no money could be made so long as lenses weren't selling. The MBAs made some more slideshows and applied their secret art whereby demand is increased by lowering prices. Then Canon announced a 40mm pancake at $199. And embarrassment set in and the whole thing led to a return to the hiked prices of yesteryear. And a few more Pentaxians bought DA lenses before switching to Nikon. Then in 2016, two years after the last Pentaxian became a Nikonian, Pentax announced a Full Frame competitor but nobody was left to hear the news.

I wonder if there was a database glitch. I checked Amazon & Adorama, and the prices at those establishments have not come down.

You joined up and did your first (and so far only) post to tell us you've already sold your gear? that's odd.

Prices rolled back to within $20 - $60 of what they were 18months ago when checked all of them in most cases. cant complain about that.

Funny that the DA*16-50 is now $1099 or you can buy from the used dept for $1199

and the DA*50-135 is now $999 or you can buy from the the used dept for $1349

Gotta start somewhere It wont be my last post. FWIW, I love the Pentax bodies (except for AF performance), but the lenses never worked out for me and I didn't have much to sell. If Pentax comes out with something great this fall I may buy back in.

Wondering the same thing. Odd to see such a discrepancy. I have been eyeing a small Pentax K5 system, and this really looks like a good time if lenses are returning to oldish prices (I have been dragging my feet investing in a system as the prices jacked). The body is already at a great price.

Hopefully a reversal and not just a glitch.

Amazon has the DA*55mm from J&R in NY now for $699 vs the $799 (though Amazon it self is selling for $799) - looks like there may be some price normalization going on... let's see what happens. BH is showing $699.95 for the same lens - was $799 earlier today.

DA*55/16-50/50-135 should cost $400, 600 & 800 respectively, IMHO of course. Even so, I am not buying SDM at any price.

Funny post, Aegon! Yeah, I am definitely not complaining about this change and I hope amazon and adorama follow suit. I thought with the unilateral pricing policy that retailers had very little flexibility to discount lens prices-- and these are significant, such as $200 off in the case of D FA 100wr and $600 off of DA 50-135... I just don't understand; Adorama wants $1599 for the 50-135, Amazon is asking &1190. Such wide disparities! I hope this isn't a database glitch like when b&h showed that it's new K-30 kit lens (18-55) was the WR one... In any case, might be a good time to jump on these prices or maybe even wait to see if they come down even lower??

Ah, just saw that Adam has posted this news on the main website page with a handy chart showing the new prices. And that these lowered prices may be implemented worldwide too!

This thread could be merged with this one.

Funny how prices were never more diverse than after the introduction of the unilateral pricing policy.
