DA*55 or FA77 limited

For portraits, which one should i choose? I have a FA 31 but I find it challenging doing portraits.

77 definitely. though i have never tried the 55. probably depends wether you want a waist up portrait of a shoulders up portrait.

Well, the DA*55 is intended to be a portrait lens for the cropped digital sensor, so I would kindly argue that this is the better choice. Also, the 55 is probably more versatile because it is closer to normal than the 77, but this is also a matter of your personal preference.

Truth is, you will get great portraits from either.

Maybe I just feel the need to defend my choice of the 55 just because I don't own the 77 Ltd ... yet .... :-)

I have seen very good shots taken with the DA*55mm on film. No trouble on FF I would think.

Yes, the DA* 55mm has been confirmed to be compatible with FF. The hood isn't though.
