Roll-Up! Lanscapers - Get your fav lens FREE!

If you won $1000 in a landscape photography competition and you want to improve your landscape pics. Which lens would you buy and why?

Definitely the FA31mm. I really couldn't justify buying it ordinarily but I would love something fast in the wide-normal range, with ltd rendering.

I'd get ahold of a DA 12-24mm, make sure it's a good copy, and use the rest for a square, drop-in filter system with ND and GND's(like Lee, Hitech, Cokin Z-pro, or Schneider).

Oh wait, I already did that (but, sadly, didn't win the money in a photo competition).

I have a F28 and a DA15, so I'd be looking for something long. F/FA/DA300.

Well, I wouldn't buy a lens. The thing is you won the $1,000 so obviously you either already have a great lens or you have the great skills - so why buy another lens to shoot already what you can apparently already do quite good without a new lens? A better tripod, swivel pano heads, etc.. all come to mind for better landscaping photog before lenses do...

I'd pocket the cash and save it for the FF coming out next year.

FF's are out now, if you mean hold on to it for a ptax FF that will be a long time holding it (wouldn't ever be able to spend it).

Perhaps a shift lens? A good used shift K28/3.5 should match the price tag. Nikkor 28/3.5 cost about the same on used market.
Also you can get about 1/2 of the olympus OM 24 shift.

Haha.. some of of you made me laugh - thanks. I didn't win money but so want a great lens. Too much talk between the sigma 10-20, 12-24, Pentax 12-24, Da15 ltd has left me so confused. I have to eliminate a few because of the silly lens hoods which can't take square system filters - such as the DA15 and Sigma's.

I've heard great things about the Pentax 12-24 but it seems bit luck of the draw with quality. I'm also thinking about a DA25 / 31Ltd. You can alwasy stitch for a wider view. Anyway... keep them coming..
