Sigma TC's with 70-200mm 2.8 HSM II

I got a Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 Macro HSM II and when I check the Sigma TC (1.4x and 2x) compatibility chart it looks like they are incompatible. Still I wonder if anybody tried the combo out? Won't it even mount?

Your lens has screwdrive, right? In that case the tc's will work. They only don't work with hsm-only (kaf 3) lenses.

No, it's HSM. Oh, I see now that the sigma TC seem to lack the Pz/SDM/HSM contacts, correct? If so how did I miss it?

Yup that's correct, the tc's only support screwdrive af. I could have sworn that the first 70-200mm hsm didn't have hsm in the pentax mount, but if you've got the lens and it does then obviosly I must be remembering something wrong

Oh, I just was sure it had support for HSM. Looks like Kenko or alike would be a better choice then. No, but the versions before the HSM II seem to have screw drive support but I'm both sure that my lens lacks screwdrive and got HSM (as in the name). I just even got it returned after service of the motor.

I tried the Kenko 1.5xSHQ Pz-Af etc with this lens. It works fine, but AF hunts a bit at the long end in low light conditions outdoors (late evening light) past about 170mm or thereabouts.

I now got the same TC and AF is almost useless as it mostly initially backfocus by alot and then microadjusts forever in the wrong focus area. Catch in focus works decently but not 100%. Sometimes it gets the shot at around 70mm.
