In your guys capable hands, lens shines indeed through it's unique qualities! Absolutely love your f1.4 photos, stunning colors, gentle and dreamy, almost painting like appearance at times!

Regards,
D

Got to really see what it can do today.

I noticed the suns rays catching the plants on my deck as it was going down this evening. I thought I'd try and take advantage of it. I really thought that light brought out the painterly quality of the lens.

Nice spread of colors there Gary, quite painterly indeed.

Also, James #136 looks like watercolour.

After the Nokton, I saw things in a different way - I wasn't just looking at the subject, but what was around it. My composing changed to better suit the lens handling of the scene. It also spread to how I used all my lenses and in fact many of my lenses then changed to suit the way I was now seeing my subject...

Gary - seriously creative and you seem to know how to play around with the lens now.

Kelly - you are absolutely right. I look for suitable background and it seems the bokeh will certainly take over the subject when we shoot. The commonest feedback from the general public is "your DOF is too narrow" or stuff like "you subject lacks interest" etc.

Whatever people think. This is fun.

Thanks guys, it's amazing what a few rays from the sun at the end of the day can produce.
This is a great tool for learning composition, really makes you think about what is in the frame.

Gary,

Terrific colors and use of the lens! And you are absolutely right, lens as such will force you to think about composition, foreground and background to yield the results you crave. Nicely done!

D

more voigtlander love...

I had never even heard of voigtlander until this thread and all the wonderful images lead me to get myself a copy. I only managed to squeeze in a few test shots as it just arrived today of nothing special really but this thing is like an artist's tool or something...

It's also very versatile and it captures so much detail when it wants to.

I have been having so much fun seeing what I can and can't do with it. And even when I can't do it it still captures so much information.
It's a bit like 'google earth'.

This should take care of the LBA for a while. Done until after the first of the year. Then its a 70-200 f/2.8.

Look out world, there will be no stopping me then.
