Actually, I've developed a liking for simple cameras, I find myself using my Konica C35 often and I just bought a Konica A4. I just have a desire for an AF camera for those situations where things move.

And I thought you were going soft. If you want simple, look for a Chinon CE-5, what a cracker.

For zooms in general, the less zoom-y the better for IQ - so zoom ratios of 2:1 (like the 35-70s) or 3:1 (35-105, 70-210) can be very good. I know my m-focus 70-150 Rikenon is good enough that it shelved my SMC-M 135/3.5 and limited the Tamron 90's camera time; I feel no need to buy any primes right now in that range, it's that good and of course more versatile. I also fondly remember Tamron's 17-35mm from my Sony days.
