Tamron 70-200 f2.8, anyone have it allready?

Is there lucky man who have it already?

I thinking about buying this lens and pair it with teleconverter. Here is my dilemma, x1.4 or x2. or mby both.
Should i stick to tamron teleconverter or i can use any of pentax telephoto converters for it?.
As for my primary use 70-200 will be used to "shoot" people (that why i need it for good DOF control), secondary airshows (200mm is little short for that, im not sure it will work well with x2) or mby stick to other telephoto lens like bigmo?

your thoughts guys?

Go post on a Canon/Nikon forum. According to the Adorama web site, those are available already. That should give us a good indication of how good it is when their users compare w/ their high end glass. That's why I'm lurking on those forums ;-)

Looks like I need a better job; now that I need to have the K20D, 300mm DA and now one of these, it's going to be an expensive year

Compared to the canon and the sigma versions, its already behind in my books. No full time manual focus and USM/HSM equivalent. Although, i guess for the price, it doesnt matter too much...

I think I will be getting the new DA* 200 F2.8 instead of the Tamron zoom.

I'm debating that too... water/dust resistant that can be my one lens to use in foul weather, exceptional performance near free of CA & purple fringing, and hypersonic ring motor [! that's what got me thinking !] leading me to believe it'll be the fastest focusing of DA* lenses [accuracy?], but fixed telephoto... vs... not water/dust resistant, unknown performance, legacy focus mechanism, but extreme flexibility in the zoom range it covers... the answer is TBD only after the DA* and Tamron ships and there are a number of test of both.

I have a bad case of LBA
But I need a good quality telephoto, the 50-135 is great but it falls short on reach so the DA* 200 should fit the bill for me.

Not sure if i saw it here, or on the PDML, but i remember not long ago, like just the past 5-6 days, that some one had email Tamron about the lens on Adorama web site, and the response was it had not been built yet, and that it was up to the individual camera sellers if they want to pre order. I think the Nikon and Canon mount comes out first then Pentax.

If thats the case, maybe i;ll run up to my local Henrys with my D2H and try it out and see,

Really guys? I'm surprised no one is interested in this at all. 70-200 2.8 lenses are extremely versitle lenses and often the most used lens in Nikon/Canon flavors. Until now, there hasn't been a recent availible pentax 70-200 f2.8 lens. Although the DA* 200 looks great, I would make much better use of a zoom w/ this sort of range. I think too that the overall optical quality should be similar to the 28-75 2.8? Furthermore, all of Tamron's newest lenses have really been top notch, I don't see why this one should disappoint.

So overall, this is an extremely compelling package to me and I think this should be my first real telphoto zoom (18-55, 50 1.4, 77 1.8, and this- quality over quantity guys :P)

Da* 200 is definitely more appealing.

How many times do we use zooms like this one and ends up only using the long end like 200mm?

Unless you are going to do event photography or weddings where every second is worth gold, a zoom like this usually satisfies the need to fill the focal range gap ...
