Pentax DA* 300mm F4 Review

We've just posted an in-depth review of the longest lens in Pentax's current lineup, the DA* 300mm F4.

Many thanks to photomission for the great piece!

I would love to have this lens. The output from our forum mates always looks stellar.

I can say it is worth the sacrifice if the focal length is of use to you.
Too bad you didn't make the meet this weekend, the others had a chance to try it and they seemed to agree.

Isn't the DA *300 full frame compatible? (https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/317890-post29.html) Seems like it probably is, although corners may be a little weak...

I am in love with the DA* 300 and its all Crewl1's fault! I cant stop talking about it to my other camera buddies... The shots I got can be seen on the thread we started in the photo sharing boards.. That is one serious lens. I'd half to sell off all my limiteds except for my 40 (my favorite) to be able to afford this monster!!! Or i could just rent it

If we can have another one in 4 months or so, when my boy is 6 months old. I kind of cheaped out and bought the Canon FD 300/4 L, as a poor man's DA*300, to use on my NEX(and maybe a q in the future) instead of forking out the bucks for this one. If I try yours I might end up taking the plunge, though I'm finding I don't have the time or patience for birding.

Depends on the types of birds you are shooting!

Maybe a trip to the Getty?

That lens is one of the favorite lenses I have ever owned...unfortunately I sold it because I needed the flexibility of a zoom Just superb on every level.

Recently I purchased the wonderful lens. The performance is more than I expected.
Very awesome!

I don't use mine a lot, but by Crikey I love it when I do.

This lens would be overkill then. I can shoot blurry birds with a body cap with an appropriate sized hole
