Also, as I understand it, the lens designers elected to resurrect the little align-assist bump with FA Limited offering and give it a design quality touch, as well. They chose a special jade color that's applied using an ancient Asian jewelry technique called "
cloisonné." Traditional Asian lore holds that the jade green color, plus this application technique, suggests the host piece is blessed with magical qualities. Perhaps that's the source of the magic some find in these lenses. Is this true? I dunno, but each time I mount one of these the lenses I use the green dot to remind me that it's my job to call up the magic built into the lens and work to appy it in ways that best benefit my subject. Anyway, I like story and it's the one I tell when someone asks about the len's little green bump thingy...
