Lens Hood for smc-F 28mm?

Anyone have a suggestion for a lens hood for my newly acquired (thanks KEH!) smc Pentax-F 28mm f/2.8? I'll be using it on my crop-sensor K-X.

I prefer rubber collapsible ones but I'm not sure which one to get that won't cause vignetting. It's a 49mm filter. Would something like this one work?

Adorama RLH49 49mm Rubber Lens Hood RLH49

or:
B+W 49mm Screw-In Folding Rubber Lens Hood #900 65-069598 B&H

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have used a generic 49mm metal telephoto lens hood on my 28mm lenses, vignetting only occurred when I added a polarizing filter.

Interesting; I didn't think to try that. I also have a generic 49mm metal telephoto lens hood that I use for my FA 50mm lens.
This one:
New Metal Tele 49mm Screw-in Lens Hood + Cap | eBay

I assumed it wouldn't work for my F 28mm because of the wider focal length.

But I could give it a try!

Thanks for your reply and help.

you can also use a 49->28mm stepdown ring as a pseudo-hood + protection, small and stealth too..

there are some threads around about it. I did this with mine and my FA43 may not give you the same flare protection as a proper hood but a good option.

For APS-C, use a step-down ring, with a smaller-diameter rubber lens hood on the step-down ring.
The rubber lens hoods are consumable items which need to be replaced as the rubber perishes,
but they are compact for storage, quick to flick out for use, and do protect against minor shocks and rain.

I use the Pentax clip on hood designed for the M 85/2 and M 100/2.8 whenever I use my F-28/2.8 on digital. It works great.

I got one of those with a new M100/2.8 back in the day.
It didn't last long, as one of the little clips fell out.

I use hoods just like these on my 28mm lenses, including the F 28mm 2.8 which I no longer own. They do not vignette. These are standard hoods, designed for a 50mm lens on film. On APS-C, a 28mm lens is about 43mm, not that much wider.

Thank you, Dan! I'm really looking forward to taking more shots with the F 28mm 2.8; I feel like I'm joining a fairly select club of owners of this somewhat rare lens!

A 49mm-28mm stepdown adapter ring works great. See the lens attached to the camera body.

That looks really awesome, SOldBear! As Deimos said, it may not offer the maximum flare protection as a traditional hood but I can't deny that it looks wicked cool.

For some lenses, this is the best.

Here's my Vivitar 135mm F/2.8 close-focusing - a 62mm-49mm step-down ring, and a Pentax 49mm hood (originally designed for Takumar 55mm F/1.8):

I just have to say that I am so very happy with my new F 28mm attached to my K-X; it feels like a perfect match-- great FOV, compact and light, excellent IQ. It may well get stuck to my camera for a while...
