Btw. is there any other Pentax (or third party) lens with similar image quality?
I would love to have a lens like this in a wide angle version too (for traditional landscapes), but it probably does not exist.

There's the Samsung version of the D-FA100mm (non-WR) My copy is uber-sharp...

Yes, there are other lenses. The DA 15 has comparable resolution (except in the corners) and overall IQ to the DFA 100. I suspect the same could be said of some of the other limiteds.

Machete, I got this lens last summer. A month ago, I finally sold my Sigma 105/2.8 EX DG macro and that was something 3 years ago I didn't think would ever happen. This newer WR version of the D FA 100 also has round aperture blade as well as the LTD like build. It is an amazingly compact lens compared to my Sigma and the Sigma wasn't big for a 105 1:1 macro.

I have had the DA 35/2.8 LTD for several years. I use it for macro, close-up and general lens. The only thing I can put in the negative column about it is it is f2.8 but then again, it is a 1:1 macro lens.

There are a lot of good lenses with comparable or even better image quality.

As for a wide angle of comparable sharpness that gets close to macro
(close enough to where the lens hood starts blocking the light on the subject),
the prime example would be the Zeiss ZK 25/2.8.

The one point to consider with that lens is that it is not a flat-field macro,
instead displaying a curved image field.
