I also notice their unique ring boke too, i was thinking of those b4 since they are smaller and lighter than other telephoto lens, but f8 don't know if it will be fast enough for birds and stuff. show us samples man~

I have a celestron C90 1000mm F11 telescope.

I think there is some confustion about "rings" I believe the OP is commenting the apature ring, which does not exist, Fstops are controlled by inserting ND filters in the light path.

vizjerei is commenting about out of focus bright rings, that are produced as a result of the secondary mirror blocking the middle of the light path.

the two issues are different.

I had a Sigma 600mm f8 in my Canon-film days and liked it enough that I would buy another now. A bit restrictive at only f8, though, but light and long for an affordable price.

I have shot both the Sigma 600mm and the Sigma Ultratel 500mm. Both not bad once you get the hang of using them. They make excellent, laugh all you want, portrait lensers IMHO. A bit long of course, lol. The 500mm is actually pretty darn sharp, atleast the copy I owned was.
