No Pentax Mount for new Tamron lenses

Noticed that neither the new Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 FF lens, or the APS-C AF18-270MM F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD replacing the highly rated 18-280mm are listed with pentax K mounts -- what gives?

They stopped supporting Pentax mounts a little while back.

No one seems certain. The number of lenses produced for the mount appears to be an issue, and there were rumors that Tamron had troubles dealing with Hoya.......

I don't know what their relationship is with Ricoh. It would be great if Ricoh understood that a camera system can't really be mainstream without third-party lenses and accessories. Even Leica has several third-party lens makers as I recall.

I know I have brought this up in other threads, but it still chaps me that the K-5 (do not know if other models such as the k-01 and the k-30) does not properly record EXIF data below for lenses of focal length less than 10mm. Speculation being of course that they don't sell lenses below 10mm, so they aren't going to help out a 3rd party manufacturer such as Sigma with the 8-16mm.

I am hopeful. Everyone has been so focused on Ricoh and their plan for what they are going to make, how they advertise, what things cost, etc. that they have forgotten that Hoya apparently did not work and play well with other companies. If Ricoh can mend some bridges to other companies that make things like lenses, flashes, etc. for dSLRs that will go a LONG way to improve the brand IMHO.

Tokina doesn't make K mount lenses anymore either. It would be great to get Tamron and Tokina back offering their new lenses in K mount. Right now we have Pentax, Samyang, and Sigma. Are there any others?

Not true

Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 ZK Planar T* Manual Focus Lens 1486-390 B&H

There's more than one Zeiss lens which are far optically better than anything Pentax has ever produced.

Are they in current production or are they great lenses that have been sitting on a shelf but are no longer in production?

Thanks, that's what I thought. I understood that they had stopped some time ago. Nice lens anyway.

Pentax and Sony don't need VC.

The 17-50/2.8 Tamron without VC
is supposed to be better optically than the newer VC version.

VC has been described as "deliberate decentering."

Now, does that make you feel any better?
