Lens coating coming off? or fungus

Hello guys, so I was trying to clean my takumar 1.8 and all those spots appear after I use Purposol with Pec-Pad tissue. They have never been on the glass before. I try to wipe them off even with my finger nail no success. I can feel them with my finger Any idea what are those? or how to clean them off? Are they fungus? The lens is clean off fungus before I openned though

I bought a lens with fungus just to take apart. Alcohol takes it right off. Sounds like you have a residue from the cleaner you used. You might soak it in the alcohol first and use a microfiber cloth. There are a lot of other threads here that could help.

would you mind give me a link or keyword to search for them? Is 91% alcohol ok?

looks like a mix of cleaning residue and dust to me. soap and a soft sponge along with drying it asap should help, although i'm no expert on lens coatings, so ask someone more knowledgeable on the subject before you try

not going away with Dove hand soap. Besides this takumar, it happens to another 2 of my vintage lenses too. Should I try vinegar? Will vinegar eat the coating?

Are you referring to those tiny spots that look like dust or to those shiny discolorations that look like oil marks on the lower side of your pic?

The tiny spots are probably nicks in the coating if they don't come off. The oil marks are probably residue from the cleaning (best case) or the coating got damaged by the cleaning substance (worst case).

Oh, sorry for the confusion. I mean those tiny spots. Its really hard. But how come they appear only after I cleaned it?
Is there any way to get them off?

The cleaning solution probably dissolved/loosened the coatings in those points.

I was using Purposol and Zeiss solution. Should I continue using them or switch to something safer?

I don't know. I never hit your specific issue. I cleaned many front and rear elements and I used plain alcohol - isopropyl - I don't remember ever affecting the coatings, but maybe the coatings of internal elements are more sensitive? The cleaning marks look very much like the cleaning marks I have on the coating of my Biotar - cleaning the front element didn't improve or worsen the situation. Because you mentioned that you can feel the nicks, it sounds like they are not spots left by residue but actual changes in the coating surface - I would leave them as is - I don't expect them to affect optical properties a lot since they don't look much larger than dust specks.

Fungus can "clean right off", but some types are capable etching both the coatings and the glass itself.

Once in the 80s I cleaned the lenses on a low end Tokina teleconverter with isopropyl alcohol and watched the coating come off. Some of it came off in little specks as in your photo. SInce then I never use alcohol or an alcohol based cleaner on any of my coated lenses. I'll use lens cleaning solutions without alcohol or ammonia from optics manufacturers or distilled water and a dab of Ivory soap.

You said the spots are hard, in which case they would not be a spot where the lens coating came off, more like a deposit from your original cleaner, unless they were there previous to the initial cleaning. Maybe you should soak it in the original cleaner, then gently rub with your fingers.

But are you sure they are not divots?, that tiny they could be hard to tell by touch.
