Tamron 90 2.8 macro, something moves inside it

Hi,

Just received Tamron 90 2.8 macro, and I LOVE IT, sharppppp and focuses faster and more accurate than Tamron 17-50.

Just a concern, when I turn the lens upside down, sounds like something is falling down and makes a metallic sound, something like a ring.

Is this normal ?

Thanks.

not normal, no. I would contact Tamron about it. Their warranty service is beyond awesome.

If you still have this sound while holding the aperature actuing arm of the mount then there is indeed a problem. Most lenses give a bit of a rattle with the aperature arm, so make sure it's not just that first.

Thanks for the replies, indeed when I push the aperture arm and rattle the lens, the movement and sounds get much worse. I should return it.

I've got the Tamron 90/2.8 and it also makes that noise. I.e. small rattling sound if I shake it, bigger rattling sound when I push the aperture lever arm and shake the lens. I've had it for over 2½ years and haven't had a problem with it. YMMV...
