Rikenon 50mm 1.2

I found a Rikenon/Ricoh 50mm f1.2 lens on my local craigslist for 45$.
I was looking for a prime lens, but planning to buy the Helios 44-2. Is this a better buy? I really have no idea how the quality is since there are no example photos online or example videos, so if you own this lens, please post some examples

And how much is this lens worth? If I do decide to purchase this, I will try to bargain for 30$, not 45$..

If it is F1.2 jump on it! If it is F2 it might be a bit over priced and you would be better buying a M50 f1.7 for under $50.

id say go for it, f1.2 anything is def worth $45. It may have a ricoh pin, so just be wary of that

also be sure it is f1.2 and not 1:2

FWIW yoshiniko (on stans pentax) prefers their 55mm f1.2 to the Pentax 50mm f1.2--you sure it isn't the 55m version?

Hi
If it is the Montreal listing it is not 1.2 it is a 2.0 lens.
If it is an f 1.2 the front does not look like a small hole it looks like a stove pipe.

There seems to be some Rikenon 50/2 with a missing dot on the front. They are marked 50 1.2, but if they really was f/1.2 they should be marked 50 1:1.2.
Check picture in the bottom picture in this thread.
XR Rikenon 50/1.2

I don't think Ricoh ever made a 50/1.2 lens, but they made 55/1.2.

It is more likely 50/f2 if it is 50mm focal length. The f1.2 lens would be similar to the k-lens which is comes with 55mm rather than 50mm. However, if it is 50mm/1.2, jump on it.

I have two Rokenon/Ricoh lenses. f1.7 and f1.4.

The others have already said it. Make sure its really a f1.2.

By way of context I paid $100 for my f1.4 and substantially less than that for my f1.7.

By comparison though...the f1.7 is sharper than a Pentax A f1.7 which I own as well. The f1.4 is even better than them both.

Mine are "P" series...but that doesn't have any relevance. You will have to manually turn the aperture ring (which with the A series you can do it from the camera)...the P mode on these lenses (if that's the type you are looking at) are not the same thing as an A series from Pentax. You are basically buying a manual lens.

I think $45 is way over priced for a f2.0 lens (which I think is 'really' what it is)...but then again I have been proven wrong before. Again, double check because often people on those sites don't know the difference between f1:1.2 and f1:2 etc.

Ricoh 50mm f/1.4 Lens for Pentax | eBay

With my lens (exactly as the one in the ebay listing) you will not be disappointed. The main problem with this lens is that you have to be very good at getting focus. The DOF is razor thin at the wide open setting.

In the end the first lens listed at ebay will go for $100 on up to whatever people are in the bidding mood for.

The second one is a f1.7 and a good lens as well.

You're right.. I will not buy it in that case, rather just stick with a Helios lens... Thanks!
