Sigma 17-70 tech question

Hi Folks.
For those of you who own this lens,
Sigma | 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro Lens for Pentax | 669109
at what focal length does it go from F/2.8 to 3.5 and so forth...I am thinking about getting this lens for my back up system.

17-20mm f/2.8
21-24mm f/3.2
24-34mm f/3.5
35-54mm f/4.0
55-70mm f/4.5

This is from Sigma DC 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 Test Report Photo Gallery by jimcreek at pbase.com . I hope it is correct.

With mine, the values are roughly:

F2.8 - 17-21mm
F3.5 - 23-34mm
F4.0 - 34-70mm
F4.5 - 70mm

Wow
This lens really sounds like the ticket...Is it sharp down at f/2.8?

I've not seen anything that I'd call unsharp from mine.
I haven't done any formal testing, but it seems like a good lens to me.

Would the owners of this lens call it a BIG improvement over the kit lens? I have been pondering getting this lens too, or maybe Sigmas 18-50 F2.8

Yep, it's big improvement over the kit lens (which isn't bad at all). The 17-70 has more contrast, is sharper, and focuses noticeably faster with better build quality.
