Cheap A series and Vivitar Series One lenses

I found this listing on craigslist for a bunch of Pentax cameras and lenses : http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ele/3159007108.html

It has a Pentax-A 50mm 1.7 lens and a couple Vivitar Series 1 lenses for pretty cheap. I am wondering if anyone can let me know if they think these lenses would be fully functional with Auto Aperture on a Pentax K-r?

Lastly, that Samyang 100-500mm zoom lens looks like a beast! Does anyone have any experience with one of those? I didn't find anything in the search about it. Do you think it is worth the asking price?

The A 50/1.7 will work fine on the K-r. It just won't autofocus.

The two Vivitars are KM lenses. Both are well regarded but manual only.

The Samyang is overpriced.

the series 1 lens, if you are referring to the 70-210F3.5 is one of the sharpest zooms of all times. it was the first 100% computer designed lens. The macro / close focusing is unique, with a mechanical switch that changes the zoom cam into a focusing cam, where you change focal length to focus close, it gave 1:2.2 reproduction, at the minimum focal length of 70mm. Normal focusing is quick and accurate, as this lens has 180- degrees of focus throw, big enough to be accurate short enough to be possible to go infinity to minimum in a twist of the wrist. Lens is a constant aperture F3.5 which is also nice.

the down side is that transition from normal to macro is not continuous, you pull the zoom collar all the way back, then release a switch and turn about 45 degrees. Also the front group is so heavy (the whole lens is at about 900 G) that the lens suffers badly from creep. Also, No A contacts, so green buttn metering and no P-TTL flash
