Pentax FA 35 2.0 vs Nikkor 35 1.8DX many samples

I'll stick to the samples.
Here is the gallery:
samples
The frames goes like this: pentax, nikon, pentax, nikon, ...
The testing bodies were my K200D and my D5000 from the office.
If somebody have questions... please ask .

The focus looks like it's off in some of those Pentax ones...

Yes except from the last one where the focus is exactly on the signs:
F2.0 pentax speed: 1/640

F1.8 nikkor speed 1/2500

The speeds are the other interesting thing - the nikkor is much faster.

FA35 looks softer compared to Nikkor, which also shows more contrast.
To bad you can't put them both on the same camera to account for differences in sensor, image processing, focus problems.

I have done it once but it is impossible to change the aperture with the nikkor because it doesn't have aperture ring. And you know what - it is great lens even on pentax body! I bet it will make the 31 Limited look very bad from wide open to 2.8!
Bravo to nikon for making new lens exactly for crop sensors with that quality, it is just the perfect "normal" lens for crop sensors which I think pentax still doesn't have.

That's one reason that I love the NEX. I haven't had the privilege of using the Nikon, but the FA35 has been a stellar performer for me on Pentax and mirrorless. It does quite well by the numbers too, for those that are into that.

Yes the FA 35 2.0 is great lens but as all lenses from it's time the performance wide open is poor compared to modern designed lenses. The nikkor is a little softer than FA 35 in corners but it is just a little! So from F4.0 to F11 the pentax is better in terms of sharpness but... wide open and arround ... Pentax loses a lot!
I guess that the new DA35 being the same lens as the FA35 is closed from the factory to 2.4 because the FA35 gets contrast and sharpness from 2.5. And still the nikkor is better, so maybe the results will be the same if somebody compare the DA35 with the nikkor which happens to be at the same price, but includes leather bag, hood, metal bayonet, quick shift and internal motor.
