I love my Pentax-M 50mm F4 Macro

I can't write reviews because I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I know I love this lens so I'm putting a pic up here. Not bad for a lens I paid 90(US) bucks for.

It is amazing that one can get a gem of a lens like this one for less than $100. Nice work!

Nice. The M100/4 is also a terrific lens.

Very nice. I really like my (Sigma) 50 macro, since I don't do bugs I don't mind getting close to my plants and water-drops.

Very nice shot. I have both the M 50 and M 100. They are great lenses and a bargain.

Good, because I just snatched one off fleabay. A bit pricey ($140), but 'new old stock.'

I have read that they are the same optically, but the K version is a lot heavier and looks bulkier. The M50/4 is pocketable. I sometimes travel with the same Sigma 50/2.8 1:1 Jim mentions as my only 50, sometimes the M50/4 plus the F50/1.7 instead.

Congrats on the M 50/4 macro.

A great little lens and the real sleeper in the M series line.

Is this because it is a tessar type design, how much difference does that make?

I’ve owned both the M50 & K50/4 and yes the K series is much bigger. It’s closer in size to the Takumar version. I believe all three had similar optics.

My M50macro rarely ever finds it way into my backpack. It's great at macro and close focus but usually I have my DA40 or A50f1.7 at that focal length. Now that I have the DFA100WR I'm not sure if I'll ever use it. Here's one I took with it.

By the way, this doesn't stop many people from writing reviews.

I got my (mint) copy yesterday and took it out for a few hurried test shots. What can I say? Spectacular. Bokeh is a bit nervous in macro mode, but not bad. Sharpness? Uber-sharpness at all apertures, corner to corner. I think it'll make a great landscape lens.

And it's unbelievably small for a macro lens... I had a Vivitar 55mm macro (well, it was faster: f2.8), which was huge by comparison--reason for my selling it. The Pentax M is a keeper: I can actually have it with me to use it

Look at the whole picture from corner to corner - extremely FLAT. It's got so little distortion its terrific. The front element is so recessed that a hood almost seems superfluous.
