Auto-Takumar and Takumar lens hoods

Hello

I have several auto-takumar 2.2/55 and 2.0/55 that I would like to compliment with a lens hood. But I can't seem to find such hoods?

Does anyone know if there were hoods with these early lenses? Anyone have one for sale?

There were hoods for them. I also have matched hoods for my preset Tak 35/4 preset Tak 105mm and Auto Tak 105mm, Auto Tak 35/2.3. You can sometimes track them down on ebay, KEH etc.

The Auto Tak 55/1.8 hood will look something like this.

Here is an old thread with some of the Auto Tak info spread through it.

Depending on your camera (film or APS-C) the standard hood for that lens may be shorter than you can get away with. On APS-C the hood can be longer and still will not vignette. I use the hood from a 105mm on my 50mm Takumar and it works fine.

If you are using film of course, forget what I said. And if you are looking to match up a collector's piece with the original hood then as stated above, KEH or *bay.

Great

Thanks! I find the prices on ebay to be way over the top. But have found resonable prices on KEH and thru forum members.

I find the supertak. 200mm f5.6 hood works on my 50mm (M) f1.7 and is no doubt much more efficient than then original hood. Should be fine on the 55mm too. And yes KEH prices are fine and their BGN condition also fine.

Check the filter thread diameter. I was kind of surprised when one of my oldest Takumars used a 46mm filter (135mm f3.5 preset). Many others used a 49mm size.

The auto-taks and taks uses 46mm threads, at least the 55mm lenses. There are exepetions. A good source for info is of course Early Asahi Pentax Cameras and Takumar lenses: Main Page site.
