Aargh! Just bent the metal lens hood on my Sigma 8-16

Glad to hear it was a reasonable cost to fix.
I rented that lens for a few weeks and decided I liked it. I took some very nice shots with it. The "motion effect" of the background gives the subject heightened importance compared with a circular fisheye.

I was going to suggest he use some Aves Fix-It metal-impregnated resin to make a buck from a good section of hood, then use a tea-towel and jeweler's hammer to reshape the hood to the correct shape again. But it was too late.
