Well, found a nice resort for Christmas and thought it a shame not to have a wide lens, so finally took it over to Sigma to fix.

Grand total of HK$500/US$65. 3 days wait (I hope).
well that is good value

First of all, my sympathies. But I'm gonna go ahead and ask the question that is surely on most people's mind...what's a tea-towel?

Glad to hear it was a reasonable cost to fix.
I rented that lens for a few weeks and decided I liked it. I took some very nice shots with it. The "motion effect" of the background gives the subject heightened importance compared with a circular fisheye.

Your comments have nothing to do with tea-towels or the literacy rate in the US. Stop hijacking the thread!

I was going to suggest he use some Aves Fix-It metal-impregnated resin to make a buck from a good section of hood, then use a tea-towel and jeweler's hammer to reshape the hood to the correct shape again. But it was too late.

I can't fathom how did you apply strength to bend the hood and the actual lens is intact.
good luck

Hey, they're called "threads" because they're meant to weave around a lot.
